“Demand generation for the nutritional rehabilitation program” is the name of a photographic exhibition that shows the work done by the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in the fight against malnutrition in Mozambique, specifically in the Monapo and Ilha districts.
The images feature beneficiaries of the Nutrition Rehabilitation Program, which began nine years ago in the north of the country, as well as community health activists, community journalists, health and nutrition professionals.
With the exhibition, the agency intends to share information and experience on the implementation of the program and the results achieved since 2017 in the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Zambezia.

Thirty images captured by photographer Chico Carneiro were selected by the exhibition’s curator. For WFP Mozambique representative Karin Manente, the exhibition visually shows the impact of the initiative that will soon be implemented in the central province of Sofala.
The exhibition “Demand Generation for the Nutrition Rehabilitation Program” will be on display until September 7 at the Brazil-Mozambique Cultural Center in Maputo.
+ Acute malnutrition affects 6% of children under five in Mozambique. Another 15% are underweight and 43% face chronic malnutrition. In rural areas, 64% of the population has no access to safe drinking water and nine out of 10 people lack improved sanitation.
